Emergency Management - Response to man-made threats and natural hazards

Successful emergency management means you are constantly preparing for a crisis that you hope will never come. It means you have acquired the training, the tools, and the resources to respond to an emergency with as little damage or loss as possible.

There is an insurmountable need to be more productive and improve public safety. Communities are more integrated, organizations more complex, and the demands to respond faster to an emergency are some of the challenges emergency managers face in their roles today. With these challenges, Emergency Managers must find ways to communicate more effectively within their department, but also with other responding agencies, as well as those involved in the incident itself. They must find ways to be better prepared, and that means planning, managing resources, and training for any possible scenario.

Software and digital technology is now available for emergency managers so they can have the right information, at the right time. Customizable for each agency needs, technology is now available to improve communications, training, planning, resource management, and skill development. Technology supports the role of Emergency Managers by giving them the tools they need to make sure their team is in a constant state of readiness, and helps them respond effectively in an emergency situation
